Farming & Agriculture

Broombank Farms LTD

What We Do

Broombank Farm is a family farming business managed by Graham Forbes and Nicola Fraser (brother & sister).  The business was started by our father and grandfather in circa 1967.  The farm and business has grown organically throughout this time and we now farm in the region of 3000 acres.  This is a mixture of our land and contract work.

“Attention to detail” is our principal aim.  A broad acre approach cannot be taken as we are looking after a valuable asset in partnership with our landowners. We pride ourselves by working on a whole farm,  long - term approach to maintain and enhance  assets.  It is vital that we should take advantage of the economies of scale available to all parties.

These agreements are mutually beneficial joint ventures, designed to maximise return from combined resources.  We place strong emphasis on both profitability and a ‘regenerative’ approach to farming.

Operations

The success of the business is only possible because of key factors.  These are, regular Agronomist advice, skilled management team, experienced operators who are highly skilled, trained and self motivated.  The management use of muddy boots and GPS to record all field operations and applications which show accuracy and transparency of costs and traceability.

Having a full time team available we are able to get involved in all types of ‘estate’ work - drainage, maintenance if needed, which helps ensure landowners assets are maintained and enhanced.

Technical

We are fortunate to work with an agronomist from Agrii, walking fields regularly and advising on agronomy requirements.

Agrii also provide most of the chemicals, therefore benefits are made on the scale of purchasing.  Fertiliser is purchased through national and local suppliers and hopefully market awareness will allow gains from forward buying where sensible.

Sustainability

Regenerative practices, food security, sustainable development and our journey to net zero.
